STOCK CAR CLASSICS

NEXT SCC On-Track Event: 2025 Season Coming Soon!

Brinkley Whiteside

Car Number: 8
Owner: Brinkley Whiteside
Make/Model/Year: 1999 Chevy Monte Carlo
Motor: 354 Chevy
Hometown: Powhatan, Va.
Car’s Background: I bought it as a roller in 2014. It was presumed at first to be a Busch car from Watkins Glen in ‘99.

Further research revealed it was Bill Lester’s car. Bill confirmed this due to pedal placement for heel/toe shifting , a unique skill in the series in ‘99.

“Lester” (the car) was restored to owner Bobby Hillin’s Clean Shower livery the team ran the majority of the year.
This started the saying, “Every car has a history!”

Still in its road race setup, “Lester” is comfortable on all types of tracks.

Driver’s Background: As the son of a Charlotte area engine builder, I was fortunate to visit and meet many prominent racers in the early to mid 70’s. Unfortunately, with Dad’s passing in ‘78, racing was put on hold.

After focusing on my education, some friends and I went Modified racing at Virginia tracks like South Boston, Langley and Manasas.
Realizing the expense of running up front and wanting to make it an affordable hobby we went road racing with a Factory Five Cobra.

Still longing for stock cars, “Lester” was purchased to run VIR, Rockingham, and Summit Point with NASA. Seeing the potential to form a group of stock cars we expanded to run some ovals as well.

With the demand apparent to run fast but safe speeds….STOCK CAR CLASSICS was born. We’ve only scratched the surface of our potential!

Driver’s Occupation/ Hobbies
:

I am an Optometrist by trade – hence my nickname “Doc”.

As for my hobbies, when you grow up in Charlotte, there are two seasons……Racing and ACC basketball!
I love both of them.

Favorite SCC Track and Why: Rockingham was my first big oval/Roval that I drove on, and it is still my favorite!
