NEXT SCC On-Track Event: 2025 Season Coming Soon!

STOCK CAR CLASSICS At The Mitty – Day 2 – Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta – Braselton, Ga.

BRASELTON, Ga. — The Southeast-based STOCK CAR CLASSICS group took part in the 45th Annual running of The Mitty, one of the longest running historic racing events in the country.  The event, which featured over 300 “blasts from the past” from open-wheel, sports car and stock car racing, is held at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta each year.

STOCK CAR CLASSICS’ portion of the event featured nearly a dozen of their cars being displayed in the track’s fan zone, and an appearance by NASCAR legend Bill Lester, who was on hand to reunite with the No. 8 car owned by group founder Brinkley “Doc” Whiteside, which is the car that Lester made his NASCAR Busch Series debut in at Watkins Glen in 1999.

That car ran into some mechanical difficulties, so another of the group’s founding members, Scott Davis, put Lester in his former Tim Steele driven NASCAR Craftsman Series Truck for both sessions on Saturday so Lester could get some laps and have fun.

You can hear an extended interview with Lester in the most recent episode of STOCK CAR CLASSICS Podcast on the group’s website.

The photo gallery that accompanies this article is from day two (Saturday) of the event.
