DARLINGTON, S.C. — The STOCK CAR CLASSICS group was invited to join forces with HSR to add some “throwback” to “throwback” weekend at Darlington Raceway for the first time in 2023.
NASCAR owns HSR, which brought a gorgeous group of former Cup cars to the festivities for some on and off track eye candy. STOCK CAR CLASSICS group was added to represent the earliest days of the sport and 10 cars were invited by the track from each group to take part.
As this was NASCAR’s 75th Anniversary, 25 more racers were added to NASCAR’s list of 50 greatest drivers, and nearly half of the 75 drivers were on hand to be honored at Darlington. Other legends from outside of the car, including Leonard and Eddie Wood and Ricky Pearson, were on hand as well. The cars were staged in the Midway behind the main grandstand for fans to interact with each day, and the engines were also fired once per day for on-track pace laps.
It was a very special moment for everyone with STOCK CAR CLASSICS to take part in, and we are hoping to make it a yearly event.
